Is your Business Idea Good, Bad or Ugly?

Not all ideas are created equal. Growth is hard enough with a good idea, so it’s important not to begin your journey with an idea that’s bad – let alone ugly. If it's not good enough, then start looking for another one!
But what makes a good idea? A good idea doesn’t need to be unique. In fact, a brand new idea can be ugly, if you don’t have the time or money to develop it for market. Not being able to make the product, deliver the service, or to create a market and educate people on a new idea are not easy tasks, and can quickly turn good ideas into ugly ones.
With that in mind, here are five questions to ask in order to determine how great your idea is:
1/ Is it something customers would want and value?
Very few of us asked for any of the products that Apple created, but Steve Jobs figured out what his customers wanted before they did. How can we do that? First, recognise that it is a science (analyse data on your target market ) – and an art (listening hard for what people really want). Many people told Henry Ford they wanted to travel faster, and he figured out how to address their needs/wants with something they valued enough to pay a lot more for than a horse!
Before you start building a product or service, begin with some old-fashioned applied research. Identify and map ideas similar to yours that competitors are selling. Note their strategies and tactics for marketing, pricing, and selling. Figure out which customers, demographics and psychographics, are buying — and identify their pain points. Talk with them. Identify what it would take to attract those customers to your idea. What do customers really value that you must build into your idea in order to win. Is it low cost, speed, safety, ease of use, or prestige?  If you don’t do the basic research, and spend enough time on Google, you could end up with a copy-cat idea that no one will buy – that makes for an ugly idea.

Northern Ireland-only backstop still

peaking at Fianna Fail’s Annual Parliamentary Party meeting in Gorey, Co Wexford, on Monday, Micheal Martin said he felt the idea of a Northern Ireland-only special economic zone was favourable.
“A Northern Ireland-only backstop, I think, is still on the table,” he said.

If enough guarantees can be given there to ensure the constitutional framework of the Good Friday Agreement prevails, in the context of a Northern Ireland-specific arrangement, there may be potential for an exit agreement to be arrived at

Everyday Of Millinaire

Ready to Become an Everyday Millionaire?

Let’s be clear: This idea that wealthy people always live in mega-mansions and wear $500 jeans is a myth. Being successful with money is as simple as living a modest lifestyle that follows a few basic principles. The more of these habits you follow, the more successful you’ll be with money. Just ask Warren Buffett.

I’m here to tell you, building wealth has almost nothing to do with your income or background. In my new book,  my team and I studied 10,000 U.S. millionaires—the largest study on millionaires ever conducted—and found that most of them don’t look the part. The majority live in normal, middle-class neighborhoods and drive modest cars.
So if you’re ready to get serious about wealth-building, talk with the financial professionals in our SmartVestor program. They’ll help you build a clear wealth-building plan and keep you focused on your way to becoming an everyday millionaire. It’s up to you!

The 22 Conservatives who voted against

Johnson have been sacked, one of the rebel MPs says

Boris Johnson's defeat is all the more embarrassing considering many of the 21 rebels who voted against the government are senior members of the Conservative Party and former high-profile ministers.
They defied the government despite a pre-emptive threat that any Conservatives who did so would have the whip withdrawn -- meaning they'll effectively be kicked out of the party.
The rebels included former Cabinet ministers including Philip Hammond, Rory Stewart and David Gauke — and Winston Churchill’s grandson, Nicholas Soames.
Kenneth Clarke, the longest serving member of the Commons, also voted against the government.
Downing Street made good on its threat shortly after the vote, according to one of the rebels.
"Today I voted against the government in order to a stop no deal Brexit. I along with 20 colleagues have had the Conservative Whip removed," Sam Gyimah said on Twitter.
A Downing Street spokesperson declined to comment.
Having the whip removed means the 21 Conservative MPs will no longer be able to sit with the government in the House of Commons and will be barred from standing in a future election.
This also means that Johnson's working majority -- which had dropped from one to zero after an MP defected several hours ago -- is technically non-existent.
Here is a full list of the Tory rebels as published by the House of Commons:

Here is Johnson's full post-defeat statement

Here is the full statement that Boris Johnson delivered to the House in the wake of his government's defeat tonight:
"Let there be no doubt about the consequences of this vote tonight. It means that Parliament is on the brink of wrecking any deal we might be able to strike in Brussels.
"Because tomorrow’s bill would hand control of the negotiations to the EU. And that would mean more dither, more delay, more confusion.
"And it would mean that the EU themselves would be able decide how long to keep this country In the EU.
"And since I refuse to go along with that plan ... we are going to have to make a choice, Mr Speaker. I don’t want an election. The public don’t want an election.
"But if the House votes for this bill tomorrow, the public will have to choose who goes to Brussels on October 17 to sort this out and take this country forward.
"Everyone will know if the Rt Hon Gentleman is the prime minister [a reference to Jeremy Corbyn], he will go to Brussels, he will beg for an extension, you will accept whatever Brussels demands and we’ll have years more arguments over Brexit.
"And by contrast, everyone will know that if I am prime minister, I will go to Brussels, I will go for a deal and get a deal but if they won’t do a deal we will leave anyway on 31 October.
"The people of this country will have to choose.
"The leader of the opposition has been begging for an election for two years.
"I don’t want an election, but if MPs vote tomorrow to stop the negotiations and to compel another pointless delay of Brexit, potentially for years, then that will be the only way to resolve this.
"I can confirm that tonight we will are tabling a motion under the Fixed Term Parliament Act .”

http://nationalnews.com/dnc-chooses-milwaukee-as-host-city-for-2020-convention/
The Democratic National Committee has selected Milwaukee as the site of its national convention, placing a spotlight on a key Midwestern battleground state that Democrats lost for the first time in three decades in 2016 and see as central to the party’s efforts to reclaim the White House.
The convention will be held next year on July 13-16 in the newly built Fiserv Forum, a 17,500-seat arena that’s home to the N.B.A.’s Milwaukee Bucks.
Milwaukee was selected over a pair of larger Sunbelt cities, Houston and Miami, to host the event.
Milwaukee organizers raised more than $10 million and reassured officials that they had secured sufficient hotel capacity for the event, ameliorating concerns that the city lacked the finances and infrastructure to support an event that regularly draws tens of thousands of out-of-town activists, officials and media.
Wisconsin holds a searing place in the Democratic Party psyche after Hillary Clinton, the party’s last presidential nominee, opted not to campaign in the traditionally blue state during the general election — a decision that some blamed for her 22,000-vote defeat in the state.

Democrats won back the governorship of the state in 2018, assuaging some concerns that Wisconsin was drifting away. Still, some in the party are urging the 2020 candidates to broaden their focus beyond the upper Midwest to the rapidly growing Sun Belt states.
Democratic officials worried about the optics of hosting a convention in Houston, a city dominated by the oil and gas industry, at a time when Democratic activists are focused on combating climate change.
Houston had faced another complication. Harold Schaitberger, the head of the International Association of Fire Fighters, has been in a prolonged battle with the mayor, Sylvester Turner, over firefighter pay. In an interview last week, Mr. Schaitberger said he had warned the D.N.C. that he would consider establishing a union picket line if Democrats located their convention there.
“Tom Perez knows, for whatever it’s worth, that it’s not going to be pretty if they go to Houston,” Mr. Schaitberger said.
In recent days, the mayor of Houston has announced plans to lay off hundreds of firefighters in order to fund a voter-approved measure to increase firefighter pay in the city. Mr. Schaitberger accused him of “an old-fashioned double cross” and “just being a jerk.”
